Biography of Ioan

Ioan is a serial entrepreneur, founder & CEO of VASUTIA, a family business with a portfolio of companies in tech, media and consulting.

He was born in a family of modest means in a small mining town in post-communist Romania, from a shop clerk mother and a mine worker father. After highschool he borrowed €500 and moved to Denmark where he got accepted to VIA University to study International Sales and Marketing Management. He later continued his studies and in 2017 graduated with a degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management.

While a student Ioan founded VASUTIA and launched project LURD, an interior design platform for IoT home devices, that combines technology gadgets with design materials.

He then co-founded hexagoals.com where he offers mentoring sessions to people around the world, guiding and sharing wisdom on how to organize life in a way that feels productive but also balanced. His way of giving back and share with ambitious people ways to make the journey feel a bit smoother.

Since 2020 he co-founded multiple tech startups through VASUTIA Tech, the startup studio subsidiary of VASUTIA. He went on to also launch VASUTIA Media, the brand & creative agency, and VASUTIA Consulting, the strategy consulting firm, to support the needs of the portfolio companies but also welcoming external clients.

He is married to Anamaria and lives in Denmark with their two children.

Journey so far

✦ In 1992 Ioan Vasut is born in Cavnic, Romania.

✦ In 2005, while in 6th grade, Ioan discovers the board game Monopoly and is playing daily for many hours with a group of friends, by creating a bank credit system which allows the players to borrow money and avoid bankruptcy.

✦ In 2007 Ioan begins high school and it’s also the year when he made first money online by selling items in an online game to other players.

✦ In 2011 Ioan moves to Denmark, to study International Sales and Marketing Management at VIA University.

✦ In 2014 Ioan begins studying Architectural Technology and Construction Management at VIA University.

✦ In 2016 Ioan founded VASUTIA Holding. It’s also the year when he started talking with Anamaria, which later became his wife.

✦ In 2017 Ioan graduated university with a degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management from VIA University. It’s also the year when he moved together with Anamaria and started developing the “Gym of Life” project, what would later become hexagoals.

✦ In 2020 Ioan co-founded sovamo (formerly smukme).

✦ In 2021 Ioan gets married with Anamaria.

✦ In 2022 Ioan becomes a proud father, welcoming it’s first daughter into the world.

✦ In 2023 Ioan co-founded go/on travel. It’s also the year when VASUTIA went through a restructuring that gave birth to VASUTIA Tech, VASUTIA Consulting and VASUTIA Media.

✦ In 2024 Ioan becomes a proud father of a boy.

✦ In 2025 Ioan re-launches his YouTube channel.
